COMPLETE THE PROJECT OF ANEPROMA FOR THE PROMOTION OF WOOD IN RURAL AREAS

The National Association of companies of timber protection (ANEPROMA) It is developing within the framework of the Program Empleaverde of the Biodiversity Foundation attached to the Ministry of agriculture, Food and environment and co-financed by the European Social Fund,  from November 2011 and in the region of the Valley of Alcudia and Sierra Madrona, a series of formative and informative activities framed within the project"Enabling agricultural infrastructures Ministry practice and the prevention of forest fires in the region of Valle de Alcudia and Sierra Madrona (Ciudad Real)"", which, ends the 31 October of 2012.

The project developed by ANEPROMA, is included inside of the strategic line delPaisaje sustainable rural development, You searched, through the implementation of a series of interrelated actions, recover e implement traditions currently disused, transferring knowledge to the business and the worker in general, and thereby, achieve the following milestones:

Form to the SMEs and self-employed workers for the empowerment of new infrastructures and rehabilitation of existing ones that allow the use of grasses that grow in areas that, today, they are not exploited, due to the lack of the same.

Train to workers del agricultural area in response to the current loss of pastoral culture, which translates in the current farming practices harmful for environment, as well as the downturn of a profession of historical importance in Spain.

Foster the use of cattle as tool for the control of the biomass our Montes, appearance of proven effectiveness in the forest fire prevention.

Dignify and restructure the profession of Pastor within appropriate standards. Population in rural setting, avoiding their exodus and collaborating with a sustainable rural development.

Conservation of the nature, through the rational use of resources, maximizing the value of the same, creating and maintaining cultural landscapes, raising, to the extent possible, the levels of biodiversity and allowing the maintenance of historical and cultural practices that have endured until the last century and that, today, they are in danger of disappearing.

Well, our project, whose abbreviated title is"The wood in the recovery of tradition with future"he has tried to achieve these objectives by setting this in the" Ricoganado solana del pino pastoral heritage of the region and in the traditional dedication, majority on the other hand, cattle population. We wanted to join tradition, reflected in these activities of exploitation of the natural environment so ingrained, with future, because we recognize the value of pastoral dedication and his contribution to the conservation of the natural values.

And to accomplish these goals we have tried to bring to the livestock sector and prescriber (architects and other professions connected with construction and rehabilitation) and the working population of Valley of Alcudia and Sierra Madrona, in general, the basic characteristics of wood and the need for protection that ensures its durability, This is, its lifetime prolonged over time.

We have understood that, in an environment of great cattle tradition, with a high density of buildings linked to farms, and with high natural and cultural values that have motivated his statement as Natural Park, the use of the material wood is essential to enhance the qualities of the environment.

As you mentioned, the project, that has presented a double facet of training (FP1 and FP2 courses), information (Technical conferences (SP1, SP2), Studies (E1) and guides (E2, CAM), Web portal, Call PR1, Environmental awareness campaign, Congress (SP3)) and advice, to achieve these ends he has arranged a series of actions, all of them executed and still available, so that they can continue being used, as it is the case of the web portal www.maderaypastoralismo, studies and guides made among others, to ensure that the work done by ANEPROMA along this annuity, consolidate over time, enabling economic growth, cultural and social of the comarca of Valle de Alcudia and Sierra Madrona, landscape rich (fauna and flora), and therefore, its inhabitants.

In the framework of the project, they have carried out two Conference  eminently technical, the days 17  and 18 April of 2012 in the municipalities of Almodóvar's field and Fuencaliente respectively, and under the titles"The recovery and conservation of grazing and their infrastructure in the Valley of Alcudia"and"The recovery and conservation of grazing, hunting activities and its infrastructure in Sierra Madrona"that through a series of communications of renowned speakers",  We could bring to the assistants technical and scientific information on wood, the livestock and hunting sector in the area, employment in the fire prevention using cattle and new approaches for this sector, allowing workers awareness of the need to return to traditional farming practices and how it affects it, the conditioning of infrastructures and opportunities that derive from this type activity.

As focal point for the project, two have been classroom training courses, in the towns of Almodovar's field and Mestanza during the months of April to June, specifically in the 23 April to the 5 may, in the Centro Cultural "Casa La Marquesa" and the 1 al 18 June, on alternate days, in La Casa de la Cultura, respectively. Training actions had two main themes: the timber construction, aimed at architects and professionals of the wood protection,  and on the other, the livestock sector, to promote adaptation in their awareness of new livestock uses and enable them to face the coming challenges with greater technical capacity, have been increasing the professional level of fifty professionals linked to these professional activities.

Also, It has undertaken a awareness campaign General for all thePaisaje forestal workers of the region Valle de Alcudia and Sierra Madrona that has been exhibited a clear and simple manner the benefits and environmental benefits of the use of wood, as carbon sink in life and after its transformation in product carbon store (approximately 1 cubic meter of wood stores more than 1 tonne of carbon).

In the same way in this awareness campaign has been deepened and explained,  the need for the use of livestock as an efficient tool in the fight against forest fires, Since, non-performance, I mean, the lack of grazing in the mountains, favors the increase of biomass (herbaceous substrate) that translates into a percentage increase of the possibility of generating a fire and thereby loss of faunal biodiversity and flora. All of this, It will be reflected in a practical guide to implementation already completed, edited and available.

With this action to the entire project ANEPROMA pursues:

1. Disseminate the advantages, characteristics and possibilities of the use of wood building material how, for the implementation, improvement and rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure of the agricultural field.

2. Sensitize the working population of the region of the need for the recovery of grazing in the mountains as a primary activity to generate production and achieve environmental benefits translatable into prevention in the fight against fires in the Mediterranean regions.

3. Recover the activity of grazing in the locations of the Valley of Alcudia and Sierra Madrona in which this work has been carried out for centuries.

4. Generate new economic engines in the area through information and help to priority groups and companies.
